2025 in Review - Letter from the Chairman

Dec 31, 2025

Afternoon,

I thought I’d write a very brief review of 2025. There is so much to shout about and celebrate so I’ll try and keep it brief.

2025 has been a fantastic year for the club. We’ve added 6 new teams to the club this year, bringing 18 teams to the club, the biggest it has been for a long time. We have had so much interest in teams wanting to join us at the welfare and it’s fantastic to see and feel the buzz around the club.

I want to start by saying some thankyous. Firstly, thank you to all the supporters who travel across Yorkshire to support any of our teams. Whether you be a parent of a child at the club, a non-league supporter, or a member of the community supporting your local teams, thank you. It means a lot to everyone at the club. Secondly, I want to say thank you to all the manager, coaches, volunteers involved at the club. These people often go unrecognised as people underestimate how much time being involved in football takes up. These people often give up time with their family and friends to support the club and its development, so thank you. Thanks also has to go to Wayne and Caroline, who run the Community Centre, cooking food on matchdays for spectators and members as well as running the bar and facilities! They go above and beyond week in week out to offer the best to us as a club, and it’s very much appreciated.

Our NCEL team broke the attendance record with the local derby of Wakefield AFC vs Nostell with 424 in attendance! What an achievement. We have launched out Striking Stars programme for 4–6-year-olds which is proving to be a thriving success and can’t wait for some of the children to progress through the club. Our new teams are proving a massive success and being able to be out there watching them, and watching the team grow and thrive makes me a very proud chairman.

2025 has also bought us some great memories with local events such as our sell out Bonfire night, with over 1400 people attending this year! It was an incredible night for the community, and we are already making plans for next years event. We also had our family Christmas Fun Day which was a great success and has allowed us to make plans to invest in the club and the facilities in 2026 to keep on improving and growing.

2026 is going to be great! A lot of hard work is going on in the background, and I’m hopefully I’ll be able to share some of our plans for 2026 very soon. One of the things we are working on is a summer festival at the end of the season, and we’ll be sharing details on that soon! With formation changes coming in the 2026/27 for the Juniors too, I know there’s a lot of work going on in the background on this, which is an exciting development for youth football.

I’ll leave it there as I could be here all day! Lastly, have a fantastic New Year Eve, Happy New Year, and here’s to 2026!

Warmest Regards

Chris
